February 18, 2025 | Regular City Commission Meeting: 2nd reading of changes to the ordinance involving seawalls that would allow seawalls to be constructed over 3 feet higher than before.
It looks like it is being proposed to change the allowed height of a seawall from "5 ft above mean low water mark" (what it is today) to 7.27 ft above something called NAVD88 which looks like it is a half foot above the mean sea level (Wikipedia link). That would be a 3+ ft increase from how high a seawall could be before. However, there is some uncertainty about whether or not someone could actually do this due to the adverse impacts that might have on adjacent or nearby properties. |
