Commercial Development

St. Armands residents have chosen this island for many reasons, not least of which is the ability to walk to all of the wonderful shops and eateries on the Circle.  We recognize that when these businesses thrive, so does our residential experience.  We support our local businesses, we shop and dine with them, and we enthusiastically hope for their success. 

When our merchants don't do well, we sometimes get vacant storefronts or new businesses being allowed to move in that don't always fit well with the long-established character of the Circle.  And the Circle sometimes gets overwhelmed with traffic which can create public safety issues in terms of pedestrian safety and the ability of emergency vehicles to get through.  So we take an interest in any proposal for commercial development here and we ask our City's leaders to listen to resident concerns when making decisions.
